Can I buy discount gate admission and carnival tickets?

YES! Save $2.00 on a regular adult ticket at all Smith's Food and Drug checkout stands. Beginning August 1, 2009 you can purchase your Utah State Fair gate admission for only $6.00. This ticket will be valid all days of the State Fair Sept. 10-20,2009.

 

Carnival Wristband Vouchers are also on pre-sale for $19.00. The pre-sale purchase at Smith's Food and Drug checkout stands save you $6.00 from the regular price for a one day "All-You-Can-Ride" wristband. Exchange the cash register voucher for your wristband at the Thomas Carnival Ticket Booth inside the Utah State Fair. Purchase early! Pre-sale starts August 1 and ends September 9, 2009 .

What does parking cost?

Where are the parking locations?

Lot A - West of the Jordan River (Livestock Exhibitor passes only)
Lot B - White Ball Park - South of North Temple
Lot C - Main Parking - 2nd North and 1000 West
(in addition to autos, this lot is for school bus parking and handicapped parking)
Lot E - Northwest Entrance - 3rd North and 1100 West

What about Handicapped parking?

HANDICAPPED PARKING - use Lot C, Main Parking - 2nd North and 1000 West. Wheelchair rental is available inside Gate "Y" which is on the south side of Parking Lot C (entrance on 1000 West).

 

There will be absolutely no parking inside the Fair. Deliveries must be made before the Fair opens and vehicles must be removed from the grounds by 9:30 am. No exceptions will be made. Security officers will impound vehicles left inside the Fair. Management will not assume responsibility for vehicles or articles left in them while on the grounds or in parking lots.

Where can I rent a wheelchair?

Wheelchair and stroller rental is available inside Gate "Y". Gate "Y" is located at the South end of the main parking lot.

Are there special prices for handicapped persons?

Special Needs Program Guidelines

 

- Organizations must serve persons with physical or mental disabilities or limitations to be considered as a "Special Needs" organization. No exceptions will be made.

 

- Program is for organizations only. No individual Special Needs discount is available.

 

- All requests received will be reviewed. To submit a request for review:

  1. Request must be typed or legibly written on official letterhead - no photocopies or faxes will be accepted.
  2. Letterhead must include name, address and phone number of the organization.
  3. Request must include the name of the person making the request, their title or position within the organization and their phone number.
  4. If your group is requesting admission for more than one visit or day, letter must state the number of tickets needed per day, including chaperones. Only one request per day will be considered per group. Organizations must arrange to arrive as one group. No individual tickets are issued.
  5. Request letter must be received at the Fair Administration Office on or before 4:00 pm - Friday, August 21,2009. The office address is: 155 N. 1000 W. Salt Lake City, UT 84116. Hand delivered requests will not be filled at the time of delivery.

- If request is approved (if organization meets all criteria) a "Special Needs Admission Form" for each day requested will be mailed to you, or per your request, made available in Will Call at the Fair Administration Office.
Admission must be paid on the day of visit at any Fair ticket booth. Authorized "Special Needs Admission Form" must be presented to purchase $1 admission.
Admission must be paid with one organization (company) check, payable to the Utah State Fair (no personal checks are accepted), one money order, payable to the Utah State Fair, one credit card, or cash. No purchase orders or billing is available.

 

Parking cost is the responsibility of the organization.
Special Needs admission does not include ticketed Grandstand Entertainment.

Do I need reservations for a school group?

Reservations are not needed for your school group to attend the Fair.

Special School Programs are scheduled:
September 10th & 11th, 2009 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
September 14th -17th, 2009 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

How much is admission for school groups?

Students and Chaperones are $1 each.
(Chaperones must pay with group to qualify for $1).
Admission is waived for students unable to pay the $1.

How does parking work for school groups?

Enter Gate #1 at 200 North 1000 West.
Parking is free for buses and chaperones vehicles entering directly behind the buses.
All others must pay regular parking fees.

Are there lunch areas?

Picnic tables are located near the Gazebo and throughout the Fairpark, or you may use any grass area available.

 

Pathways To Fishing / Hands On Fishing Program - "Introductions to Fishing" programs will begin every 30 minutes, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm (noon), at the Fish Pond located on the south side of the Wildlife Building. Programs consist of a 30 minute presentation about fish, their habitats and the basics of fishing. For the remaining 30 minutes, school children can use the skills learned to catch and release fish stocked in the fish pond. Instruction and fishing rods, reels and bait will be provided. Each program is limited to no more than 30 children and ADVANCED RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED . To reserve a spot, or for more information, call Lindy Higham at (801) 538-4806.

Carnival employment is through Thomas Carnival.

Where is the Commercial Exhibit Office during the Fair?

The Commercial Exhibit Office is located in the Administration Building, at the east end of the Fairpark.

Can I bring my pet with me to the Fair?

All animals (except Service animals and animals scheduled for exhibit and/or performance) are prohibited on the grounds. Please leave your pets at home and not in your vehicle. Fairpark Management reserves the right to request evidence of any specialized training a service animal may have to assist a person with a disability in order for a Service Animal to be admitted into the Fairpark. Anyone desiring to have their Service Animal admitted into the Fairpark other than a seeing eye dog with a harness must first obtain an Animal Pass in the Administration Building from Fairpark Management. An admission ticket will also be required for the owner's admittance.
