CONTESTANT'S INFORMATION
Registration:All Indoor Cook-Offs are open to early registration online, or on the day of the contest.

The deadline for online entries is August 26th. After this date you will need to enter the day of the contest.

Gate Entry:

If you enter online, a complementary gate entry pass will be mailed to you before the Fair. If you enter the day of the competition, a pass may be picked up at the Administration Office at 155 North 1000 West. One entry pass per entry. Parking fees are the responsibility of the contestant.

Agreement:

Each contestant must sign a Registration Form when entering, in which the contestant agrees to accept the decisions of the judges and to abide by all the rules and regulations.

BAKE FOR THE CURE BAKING CONTEST
The 2011 Fleischmann's Yeast contest comes with two ways to win.... and all in the spirit of Breast Cancer Awareness. The first category, the main one, features yeast breads of any type and flavor. A second category calls for the top "Whole Grain Bread," any recipes with at least 50% whole grains The 1st place winning recipes in both categories advance to grand prize judging for a $1000 national award!


Unite to increase Breast Cancer Awareness across the country! For every entry, Fleischmann's Yeast (ACH Foods Companies) will contribute $10 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Bring your baked entries and matching written recipe for live judging. Themes and decorations are encouraged as part of your presentation.

"Whole Grain Bread" - Any type of recipe with yeast may be submitted from bread or rolls to pizza or cakes. Recipes should contain at least 50% whole grains, such as whole wheat flour, rye flour, and/or other whole grain ingredients (oatmeal, flax seed, bran cereals, bulgur, etc.) All -purpose or bread flour should be limited to 50% or less of the flour in the recipe.


Each winner will receive a ribbon, award certificate and apron.
 
Three Grand Prizes: $1000 Each
Three Grand Prizes ($1000 each) will also be awarded by contest sponsor ACH Food Companies, Inc. (ACH). Based on the same judging criteria at the fairs and selected out of all first place winning recipes, ACH Test Kitchens will select one grand prize recipe in each U.S. region of participating fairs, divided as the Northern U.S., Central U.S., and Southern U.S. The three grand prize winners will be notified by January 31, 2012. Both categories' first place winning recipes advance to grand prize judging.
 
Official rules:
1.Entries must be original and baked with Fleischmann's Yeast as an ingredient (RapidRise, Active Dry or Bread Machine Yeast).
2.For inspiration, visit www.breadworld.com, www.bakefor thecure.com or www.pizzacrustyeast.com.
3.Submit a clear typed recipe that matches your pre-baked entry. Be specific with recipe directions, measurements and size of pans, packages, cans etc. Submit two (2) copies of your recipe, printed or typed on 8 1/2" x 11" white paper; one with recipe only and one with your recipe, name, address and phone numbers. Winning recipes must be able to be successfully reproduced in the Fleischmann's Yeast test kitchens to be considered for the grand prize.
4.A person of any age can enter. Only one set of prizes will be awarded at the fair.
5.One person can submit one entry per category: meaning, one entry for the first category and one entry for the second category.
6.Recipes become the property of ACH Foods (ACH) and the Utah State Fair, who reserve the right to edit, adapt, copyright, publish, or advertise the recipe, photos, and the names of the contestants without compensation.
7.ACH and the Utah State Fair are not responsible for lost, stolen, illegible, misdirected or late entries. By entering the contest entrant accepts and agrees to these rules and the decisions of the judges, which shall be final.
8.The contest is intended for amateur bakers only. Professional bakers or those who earn income from baking may not enter the contest. Employees of ACH the Utah State Fair, their affiliates, subsidiaries and families of each are not eligible to enter.
9.Taxes are the responsibility of the winner.
10.The 2010 1st place Fleischmann's Yeast winners are not eligible to compete in 2011.
11.The judging will be based on Flavor 40%, Presentation 40%, and Texture 20%. Same criteria applies to both categories. Breast cancer awareness themes and decorations are encouraged.

1.Open to adult/child teams. Children must be 5-13 years of age by September 12, 2011.
2.All baking must be done as a team.
3.Bake a dozen cookies (any kind) using C&H Sugar and present at the Fair on a plate. One recipe per team. Recipes must be original and unpublished.
4.Bring an empty C&H Sugar package with your entry as proof of purchase.
5.Submit two (2) copies of your recipe, printed or typed on 8 1/2" x 11" white paper; one with recipe only and one with your recipe, names, child's age, address and phone numbers.
6.Recipes become the property of C& H Sugar Company and the Utah State Fair, who reserve the right to edit, adapt, copyright, publish, or advertise the recipes, photos, and the names of the contestants without compensation.
7.Employees of C & H Sugar Company, the Utah State Fair, their affiliates, subsidiaries and families of each are not eligible to enter.

1.Bake your favorite Meat Loaf using beef, pork, lamb, turkey or chicken or a combination of two or more meats.
2.Exhibitors must bring their prepared meatloaf to the Zion Building at 5:30 p.m.
3.All preparation is to be done at home. Only "warm up" for judging will be done at Fairpark.
4.Exhibitors must comply with safe food handling guidelines.
5.Submit two (2) copies of your recipe, printed or typed on 8 1/2" x 11" white paper; one with recipe only and one with your recipe, name, address and phone numbers.
6.Contest is open to any resident of the State, except professional cooks, chefs, food handlers, or culinary instructors.
7.Recipes become the property of the Utah State Fair, who reserve the right to edit, adapt, copyright, publish, or advertise the recipes and the names of the contestants without compensation.
8.Employees of the Utah State Fair, its affiliates, subsidiaries and families are not eligible.
9.Only one winning entry per household or address.

11.Judging will be based on Originality 40%, Taste Appeal 30%, Appearance 20%, and Ease of Preparation 10%. Judges decisions are final.

1.The judging will be based on the Taste (overall and chocolate taste) 40%, Originality and Creativity 30%, Appearance 20%, and Ease of Preparation 10%.

3.Any person age 18 or older may enter; limit one entry per person.

The versatility of beef makes it a great choice of protein that you can prepare for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or snack time. Beef supplies a wonderful flavor that, when combined with other seasonings, will give you that great "umami" experience!
 
All recipes must be submitted by August 29, 2011. Only the recipes selected as finalists will be available to participate in the finals held during the Fair.

Beef-Anytime,Anywhere

Send us your original beef recipes that you use in a breakfast, lunch, dinner meal or in a snack. Use any of the beef cuts and include a variety of fresh ingredients that provide well-balanced flavorful dishes. The recipe should include no more than 10 ingredients (not including water or plain salt and pepper) and be prepared and cooked in 30 minutes or less (not including marinating time). Enter as many recipes as you would like. Recipes must be submitted in English

 
 Official Rules:
1.Enter if you are 18 years or older by January 1, 2011. The 2010 1st place winner are not eligible to compete.
2.You are not eligible to enter if you are a food professional, such as a chef, food writer, food home economist, food educator, caterer, dietician, and nutritionist or if you create recipes for pay.
3.By submitting recipes to the Beef Anytime, Anywhere beef cook-off, entrant is representing his/her recipes are original and owned exclusively by the entrant.
4.By entering your recipes, all finalists agree to participate in the Cook-off competition on Saturday, Sept. 17,2011.
5.By submitting recipes you accept all contest rules. You also agree that your original recipes and all legal rights and interests in them, including the rights of copyright, become the exclusive joint property of the Utah Cattle Women Association, Utah Beef Council, and The Utah State Fair who reserve the right to edit, adapt, copyright, publish, transfer and use any or all of them, without compensation to you or any third party.
6.Recipe judging criteria is as follows: Taste-45 points; Appearance-20 points; Convenient Preparation and cooking-20 points; Healthfulness & Nutritional Balance-15 points; Proper use of a less tender cut, e.g. the round-5 bounus points.
Important Finalist Information- If you are one of the selected finalists, you will be notified on or about September 3, 2011. Further information confirming date, time, place, set up, and other details regarding the cook-off will be sent at that time.

Send us your original recipe that uses one of the beef cuts. Enter as many times as you like. Only one participant is allowed to compete.

 

On a 81/2 x 11 -inch size sheet of plain paper, legibly print or type your original recipe, listing the recipe name, preparation time, cook time, number of servings, each recipe ingredient (including garnishment) with specific flavor, exact measurements in U.S. weights or measures, equipment with exact dimensions or sizes and complete preparation directions.

 

On the back of the sheet, legibly print or type your name, address, daytime telephone number, e-mail address (if available), recipe name, name of the beef cut for the recipe you are entering. Multiple recipe entries can be mailed in the same envelope, but be sure to include your name, address, daytime phone number, e-mail (if available), recipe name, name of the beef cut on the back of the sheet for each recipe entry.
